More memories from the last 50 years. The cab over freightliner was my truck when I rodeo, the old number 5. The mercury sleeper behind the cab was not for sleeping. I put that on there to haul truck parts back from the rodeos. During the week when there wasn’t a rodeo performance, I would work the Wrecking Yard’s and Chevrolet dealerships and fill that sleeper up before I got back to the ranch. The '72 international 1510 was my truck towards the end of my rodeo career and I also used it to haul truck parts. Some of my fondest memories in the early days was driving that International East hitting every dealership I could until I ran out of money. I would get as far as Cheyenne, Wyoming . A couple of times I needed to rent a trailer coming back, it was good pickings for Truck Parts and Chevy dealerships in the early 70’s! There was a lot of strategy involved in hitting the dealerships. I would drive overnight to get close to the next dealership and then first thing in the morning go to the parts department for some coffee and discussion. Sometimes the parts manager would be really easy to work with other times I had to work with the dealer or the Dealers son. It always took a lot of patience and getting to know who wore the pants in the dealership. Every dealership was an exciting experience whether I got a load of parts or a couple of items.
